The Belly Is Getting Big.

This past weekend Mark and I went down to get our pictures taken professionally by Cayton Photography (www.caytonphotography.com). It was a great experience. We came away with some great photographs. This one is going to be in the March 27th issue of the Independent newspaper. I will post the link for the rest of our maternity photos on this blog when we get them this week.

First Ultrasound Pictures.

This morning we had our first Ultrasound appointment, and we found out the the baby is a boy. First I figured out that the little bumps I have been feeling inside my stomach are actually him hiccuping. He was hiccuping during the ultrasound. And he looked comfy and fast asleep (a baby after my own heart). He would not turn a lot for us to get many pictures, but we have below what we got!

It was amazing to see him move around, to look at his heart, and to "see" him for the first time. I think it is just amazing that this little being is growing inside me and that he is getting nourishment inside of there! How miraculous is that that we have this new life in our lives....

I am also amazed at how perfect he looks. The doctors said that he is healthy and were able to count his fingers and toes (all there)! What an amazing thing that my uterus is growing...

Here are the long-awaited photographs.

You can see his face here. On the right is the top of his head and then moving towards the center are the two eyes and on the left is the mouth. It looks like he is smiling!

Look at his little feet and legs crossed. You can see the toes on the left and the legs to the right!

His first footprint!

Well, this may be too small to see right now (sorry little guy) but here is proof that he is a boy. If you look where the little white arrow is pointing you can see the evidence!

Weird Things Pregnant People Eat.

Well, you know what they say about pregnant women eating weird things. Well, I am here to document my weird food cravings. I have not had any really weird cravings. Well, Mark was kind enough to point out that my bagel with garlic, cream cheese, and jelly was very "pregnant". I just thought that a bagel with cream cheese, some spices (cayenne and garlic), lunchmeat sounded good. When Mark got out the jelly that sounded good too. Thanks Mark for pointing out how "pregnant that was.

We're Pregnant, Now What!

Mark and I found out one month ago that we are going to have a baby. What a weird turn of events for two people who have know each other for so long: first high school sweethearts, then just not in contact for 4 years, then dating again. I think we might have seen this coming.

Since then we have started seeing the doctor (well midwifes), taking prenatal vitamins, and saving up for the baby. (I am trying to stay out of the really cute baby stores, myself...) I am feeling REALLY GREAT for being pregnant...the only symptoms that I experience are that I eat more often and I pee more often. For those of you who know me well you might be worried about me eating more than I already did (I know I ate a lot). Rest assured that prettymuch all I do is eat and pee, and work of course.

Mark and I are excited, nervous, and planning a lot! We'd love to hear from each and every one of you.

Love,
Cassie, Mark, and The Jelly Bean
